Just a few months ago - the Kids (Reed and Keyona) did a thing - actually a couple of things! They bought a house and they got engaged! Ahhhggg! Grown up stuff!!!
As much as I thought I could bubble wrap Reed up and keep him from doing certain things that Rye did, (mostly because they are scary for me - not because he shouldn't be doing them) Reed is his own man, independent as hell, and most importantly - he is happy! His daring to jump right in and do big things sometimes stops my heart a little, but then I have to back up and take a breath and remember that we raise our kids to have wings and this is the proof that we did our job!
Im so proud of all that they have accomplished together already!
Keyona seems happy too based on this picture! The house is so cute and they absolutely love it!
I love it too! It's a perfect starter size and Ace even drilled the well back in the day! The kids worked hard (as they both always do) and saved and scraped so they could have the down payment and do all the things they needed to do to be ready to jump with minutes notice! Houses at the time were selling after being on the market only 6 hours! Especially in their price range.
Right after they got the keys, we went over to help do some painting - a little change from yellow and maroon to green in the kitchen.....
And a nice grey in the bedrooms and part of the halls. I usually struggl with gery but it's been growing on me lately - even used it in a quilt recently! Growth all around!
Reedo giving me crap because he has to do the high parts for me! And for Keyona - but she can hop on a countertop much more easily than I can!
Checking out the odd transition strip in the kitchen area - Reed says there was carpet and they took it out and matched the flooring so had to have it.
Hubby is not a fan of it but he doesnt have to live with it and the kids dont mind it. I didnt even notice it the last time we were there - Keyona makes a mean pot roast and potatoes! But now they have furniture in the house and you dont notice the strip at all!
Viewing the kitchen from the hallway and making sure we got paint coverage adequately on the walls in the kitchen! Notice funny guys haven't got any paint on them yet? Cuz they have been watching us paint! Haha! Actually they have been taping things so they could start painting and just stopped to check out the kitchen progress!
Being weird water people - hubby always has to check all the things water!
And all things cooking!
Getting it on the walls!
Even behind the fridge!
All homeownership comes with a little fix and repair - inside and out! The kids decided a Door Cam would be good - for people and the dogs! It has alerted them to many a moose already ritht outside the front door so they wouldn't let the dogs out at a bad time! They have also changed out some light fixtures with help from a cousin and friend, as well as a bathroom fan that was a noisy sucker with one that is quieter! They are learning a lot!
And because its "our house- our rules" They added another dog friend to the mix! Meet Mijo - who apparently used to live at the house the kids bought and was somehow left behind. He fended for himself for a long time and was emaciated and starving when he started to "come home" and get into the garbage! They spotted him first on the door cam and couldnt help but help him when they saw his conditions! Couldn't even be mad about the garbage!
Reedo fell in love with him (he is a sweetheart - both the boy and dog) and after time served at a local shelter to give his preious owners time to collect him - he is now home, happy, and well fed!
Three is only a crowd if you let it be!
I hope that all your dog dreams can come true if thats how you dream and that you all are warm and well. Right now its -8 here in the Burg and we are expecting snow on top of it for the next 24 hours at least! Stay tuned for more Kids Corner stories and....
Blessed Be!
